New Management Board for EFSA

The new Management Board of EFSA has started its five-year term on 1 July 2026.

On 1 July 2026, the new Management Board of EFSA began its five-year term. Composed of representatives from all EU Member States, the European Commission, the European Parliament, civil society, and food chain interests, the Board reflects the inclusive governance model introduced by the Transparency Regulation. Civil society and food chain interest representatives were selected through a public call launched by the European Commission in 2025. The other members were nominated or appointed by EU Member States and EU institutions. The term runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2030 and represents the second term under EFSA’s new governance structure. Nikolaus Kriz, Executive Director of EFSA, highlighted the importance of strong governance at a time when science is more than ever needed to influence policies and protect public health. The Board is tasked with providing strategic support to EFSA’s activities, including the appointment of external experts to the Scientific Committee and committees, and the approval of the budget and work programs of the Authority. The full list of Board members and deputy members for the 2026-2030 term is available on the dedicated website of the Management Board.
